TreeMendous Play Houses
Community Invited to Participate in TreeMendous Play Houses Design Challenge at Smith-Gilbert Gardens
Smith-Gilbert Gardens is pleased to announce the kickoff of TreeMendous Play Houses, a new summer exhibition and initiative that will showcase innovations in sustainability, interactive outdoor play, creative functional design, and backyard fun.
The region’s most innovative architects, landscape architects, designers, builders, engineers and businesses are invited to interpret the concept of a Play House in an entirely new and different way – and connect it to nature. “We are excited to offer Smith-Gilbert Gardens as a new stage for creativity and thinking green,” said Ann Parsons, Executive Director. “This exhibit will capture the imagination of visitors of all ages!”
The Design-Build Competition is open to professional, student, and amateur teams. A blue ribbon panel will select up to eight teams with designs representing the most unique, creative, and cool ideas. Those teams will be invited to turn their concepts into reality – building the play house on the grounds of Smith-Gilbert Gardens. The exhibition will open in mid-June and run through September.
Email firstname.lastname@example.org no later than January 15, to register your team and receive design submission criteria. There will be an orientation at the gardens to show all designers the build sites and to answer questions.
Smith-Gilbert Gardens is a 16 acre public botanical garden owned by the City of Kennesaw. Our mission is to serve as a resource for conservation, education and the enjoyment of horticulture, fine arts and historic preservation. Through the TreeMendous Play Houses exhibition, we hope to begin a community conversation about sustainability in a fun, engaging and creative way.
