Nature Field Day

Thursday, September 26, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Bring your homeschool students and enjoy a day of fun and fascination in the gardens! Watch live demonstrations and programs throughout the day. Join in a citizen science project. Explore many facets of our connection with nature.

All programs are included with your paid garden admission. Purchase in advance and pay half-price!

At 10:00 a.m. and again at 1:00 p.m., author, environmental award winner and primitive skills expert Mark Warren will present “The Ancient Ways of the Cherokee and How We Can Use Them Today”. Mark’s books will be available for purchase at the event.

Multi-talented musician, environmental educator and past Glacier National Park Artist-in-Residence, Deb Gerace, will lead sing-along nature tunes and a cool sensory nature discovery program.

Environmental program staff from Cobb County Water and Georgia Farm Bureau will share their expertise on water quality, snake adaptations, urban/suburban agriculture and more.

Participate in our Project Bumblebee Watch citizen science project.

Our garden volunteers will introduce you to the fun world of worm composting! Learn how you can take would-be landfill waste and change it into garden gold.

Birding Field Day

Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Learn about bird migration, bird biology and habitat. Build a birdhouse to take home. Learn how to identify the birds you see and hear.
