Jim McHatton shows everyone the right way
Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night will keep him from his appointed rounds. No, we are not referring to the postman, but of Jim McHatton, our stalwart parking guru. Ever wonder who that guy in the back parking lot wearing a long sleeved neon yellow shirt and hat is waving his arms? That’s Jim! He had so much experience as a parking monitor for the Atlanta Falcons that we decided he was just the one to help us out. Jim is frequently seen at special events guiding visitors into tight parking spaces to maximize our sometimes overwhelmed capacity. For the last 4 years Jim has gotten his hands dirty with first with the Rose Warriors and lately with the Monday General Maintenance Group.
Wife Nadine (also a SGG Volunteer) and he have been residents of Cobb County for 22 years, since the two of them made the decision to leave Chicago and move south. Chicago’s loss is definitely our gain. After 30 years, Jim still works for the same company, Janbar Wheel Corp, a division of Dana Molded Products, where he is charge of sales for one division.
He and Nadine have two daughters. The oldest, Pam, and her family live in Birmingham, MI with their grandchildren, Ryan and Maria. Younger daughter Sarah lives in Wake Forest, NC. Jim and Nadine love to travel around the US. His priorities are 1) family, 2) love of gardening, and 3) Smith-Gilbert Gardens. We’re ok with being third on Jim’s list. This month, he’s our Number ONE!
